Brad Prince acted as Port Metro Vancouver’s Project Manager for this $43 Million project, which provides for six new rail tracks to be brought into the Neptune and Lynnterm terminals in North Vancouver. The project scope included a 28 m widening of the existing Brooksbank Avenue underpass structure, twinning the existing Lynn Creek Rail Bridge with a new 28 m wide by 70 m long bridge, relocating a portion of a public park, and significant reconfiguration of Lynnterm Terminal to accommodate the new rail infrastructure. Brad led a project team of Port staff and a dozen specialist consulting firms from project inception through construction.
The designs were fast-tracked, long-lead items were procured early in the process, and several smaller construction contracts were awarded in advance of the general construction contract to meet the tight schedule dictated by the environmental window for in-stream works and funding requirements. These smaller contracts included a Design-Build contract for an 11,000 ft2 replacement ‘Gear Locker’ building and several packages specifically tailored to provide opportunities for local First Nations.
